Metcalf Fellowships
The Metcalf Institute provides fellowships each year for journalists in print and electronic media. The following fellowship programs are available annually:
- Annual Workshop for Journalists, a week-long immersion program fellowship in marine and environmental sciences, is available to 12-14 journalists. The workshop emphasizes basic methods of scientific research, the principles and ethics that guide scientific inquiry, and how to analyze and interpret data.
- Environmental Reporting Fellowships, a 41-week science and reporting fellowship available to traditionally under-represented racial or ethnic minority journalists. The fellowship program supports diversity, science training, and informed reporting on the environment. (From 2006 to 2009, this program was called Diversity Fellowships in Environmental Reporting.)
- Metcalf-Yale Forum Fellowship for Climate Change and Business Reporting
This fellowship provided travel, lodging, and conference registration costs for business journalists to attend the Society of Environmental Journalists' 2009 Conference, including two special sessions on the economic impacts of climate change.
