Metcalf Marks 20th Anniversary with 20 Exciting Programs

Excitment FinalJoin the celebration as Metcalf Institute continues to mark a major milestone – our 20th anniversary.

We’ve experienced tremendous growth since audiences gathered for our first Annual Public Lecture Series in 1998, and a year later, the first group of fellows trekked to Rhode Island for Metcalf’s inaugural Annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists.

Now, after 20 years of bringing science to the conversation, we’ve helped nearly 800 journalists cover the environment with greater accuracy. More than 700 scientists are better prepared to engage public audiences in their research because of Metcalf training. We’ve also had the pleasure of hosting many of you at our public lectures, webinars, book signings, and other events.

In the wake of a string of catastrophic environmental disasters around the globe, Metcalf’s mission to foster informed conversations about the environment through trainings for journalists and scientists and programs for the public is ever more essential.

As we head into the fall, we’re hosting 20 programs focusing on a wide range of environmental science and communication topics to mark our 20th anniversary. Some are already listed and others are in the works. Keep visiting metcalfinstitute.org to see the full list.

There are also opportunities for you to show your support for Metcalf Institute and to help us reach the next level of impact.

Consider these 20 different ways!

We recognize the many people whose contributions have brought us to this milestone. From our volunteer Advisory Board to our funders and donors to the hundreds of scientists, journalists, and policy experts who have volunteered their time to speak in our programs, our longevity is a testament to the strength of these many collaborations. Thank you!
